An illegal immigrant endures a self-imposed penance on a rundown highland farm until the exploitations of the Scottish crofter and her resentful English partner force him to face his past.

As He Lay Falling is being adapted from the short film of the same name with support from Screen Scotland and the BFI Network. The screenplay was developed with Berlin based story consultants Solace23, selected for the New Talent Strand of Film London’s Production Finance Market at BFI London Film Festival, and further developed through Edinburgh International Film Festival’s bespoke feature programme Talent Lab Connects.
